About the Event

Before Dracula, there was Carmilla.

Originally a gothic-horror novella (written in 1872!), this stage adaptation has been passionately crafted by playwright and director, Laura J Harris to be premiered at Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2021 as a live-streamed performance.

'My adaptation features a panoply of enticing and mesmerising LGBTQ+ characters beyond those of solely Laura and Carmilla. This play is dear to me because the story is so powerfully female-driven with the action pinned around a wonderfully gothic lesbian love story, that makes no apology for being exactly what it is!' - Laura J Harris

"Love will have its sacrifices, no sacrifice without blood."

 - Carmilla - Sheridan La Fanu (1872)
